I agree with using XP Home in a networked environment is not a good practice and hopefully this gives me a little more leverage to upgrade :) Just trying to see if it will work first. Granted I can still see the computers, but they are classified as unknown and with little info. If I don't edit the local computer policy, I cannot connect (authenticate) no matter what. Then edit the local computer policy so that the "Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts" is set to "Classic - local users authenticate as themselves". For the PC to connect to this and utilize the more advanced features of Spiceworks, I have to do the following on each PC: I then just set up windows account in Spiceworks with the user administrator and my password.

However when I go to add the snap in "Local Computer Policy", you don't get the "Security Settings" option when you expand the windows settings. Installed SCESP4I.exe and was able to get into the mmc.
